DARLINGTON — A man suffered serious injuries after accidentally shooting himself in the leg earlier this week, according to the Darlington Police Department.

Coty J. Lange, 27, Darlington, was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County and later flown by MedFlight helicopter to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison for treatment of his injuries.

Police and EMS were dispatched for a report of a man with a gunshot wound at a home on West Mary Street at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, March 3. Investigation revealed the gunshot was accidental and self-inflicted.

Police are still investigating the accident but report that it appears alcohol was a contributing factor. A Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputy and Green County EMS of Darlington assisted officers at the scene.
