MONROE - A 26-year-old Green County man in an Illinois prison for burglary was sentenced this week to a concurrent prison sentence in Wisconsin for a string of burglaries here.

Judge Thomas Vale sentenced Brandon Disrud to three years in prison and three years of extended supervision at a hearing Tuesday, Sept. 24 in Green County Circuit Court.

Court records indicate that Disrud and two other men burglarized homes in Green and Iowa counties in May. The Green County burglaries occurred in the W8100 block of Apple Grove Road in rural Argyle, in the W6300 block of Iliff Road in Monroe Township and in the W5900 block of Melvin Road in Clarno Township.

In all, $12,400 worth of belongings were stolen, including jewelry, valuable coins, a pair of Swarovski binoculars and a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol.

The two other men implicated in the burglaries, 34-year-old Nicholas Jay Batzler and 24-year-old Brandon Lee Garecht, are also serving prison sentences in Illinois. They haven't yet had initial appearances on the Green County cases against them.

A fourth man also has a pending case related to the burglaries. Ronald G. Goodman, Sr., 57, formerly of Brodhead, faces charges that he helped Batzler, Disrud and Garecht escape from the Rock County Jail, housed them, loaned them his pickup truck to commit the burglaries and hid two large stolen safes on his property.
