DARLINGTON — A man already serving five years for a first-degree child sex assault conviction out of Grant County has been sentenced to 10 more years in prison for a similar crime in Lafayette County.

Nicholas Austin Bratzke, 24, Baraboo, pleaded guilty in June to the Class B felony charge of first-degree child sex assault involving sexual contact with a person younger than 13.

He was sentenced Sept. 9 to 10 years of initial confinement to be followed by seven years on extended supervision. Bratzke is already serving a five-year sentence, handed down in January, for convictions of possessing child porn and first-degree child sex assault in Grant County.

Judge Duane Jorgenson ordered the Lafayette County sentence to run consecutive to Bratzke’s Grant County sentence.

The Lafayette County case stems from an incident in June 2018. Court records indicate a woman witnessed Bratzke “leaning over” a 4-year-old girl with her pants down at a Shullsburg residence. The girl later gave investigators details of sexual contact. Her grandmother made a statement at Bratzke’s sentencing.
