MONROE - The Supreme Court of Wisconsin has denied a petition of review filed on behalf of a 46-year-old man convicted of sexual assault.
George H. Sergent was sentenced in October 2007 to seven years in prison and 10 years extended supervision after a panel of jurors found him guilty of attempted second- and third-degree sexual assault, as well as misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct.
Judge James Beer denied Sergent's appeal to a reduced supervisory sentence on Jan. 14 at the Green County Circuit Court.
Sergent's convictions stem from an incident described by a woman whom Sergent assaulted in November 2005. Court records indicate the woman woke up in Sergent's home to find him pulling off her pants following a night of her drinking with her husband and Sergent. Sergent slapped and punched her and she was able to get away.
Sergent has attempted to appeal to the court several times, but his conviction has been upheld.
