MONROE - A man was charged Thursday in Green County Circuit Court with dealing cocaine and heroin in Monroe.

Thomas Allen McLean, 27, faces three counts of delivering cocaine and one count of delivering heroin, all Class F felonies. If convicted on all counts, he faces up to 30 years in prison and another 20 years on extended supervision.

His cash bond is set at $400 and his signature bond at $3,600 with conditions that he not possess drug paraphernalia or possess or consume controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician presently treating him.

The charges stem from a series of undercover "controlled buys" by the Stateline Area Narcotics Team (SLANT), each purchase coordinated using a confidential informant.

According to the criminal complaint:

On April 1, McLean sold an "eight ball" of cocaine for $180 to a confidential informant in the 1000 block of 17th Avenue. The informant later gave the cocaine to an officer, who weighed it at 3.2 grams.

On April 6, McLean sold 3.3 grams of cocaine for $200 at a home in the 600 block of 16th Avenue.

On April 9, McLean sold 3.8 grams of cocaine for $225, again in the 1000 block of 17th Avenue.

On Sept. 8, McLean sold 0.3 grams of heroin for $60 in a vehicle in the area of 5th Street at 19th Avenue.

Court records show a lengthy criminal history for McLean. In October 2013, he was sentenced to a year in jail in Green County for revoking his probation on misdemeanor convictions of bail jumping, disorderly conduct and making threats via computer message.

A probation agent at the time noted that McLean "has repeatedly been given chances to better his life and he continues to violate both his supervision and the law. His aggressive and assaultive background has not wavered and he continued to struggle with addiction problems."

McLean has a preliminary hearing Oct. 1.
