Man charged with attempted homicide in Lafayette County

DARLINGTON - A Bagley man will be charged with attempted homicide after an altercation involving a firearm on Thursday in the Town of White Oak Springs.

David Arnold Heisz, 59, was arrested after an incident at 8:41 p.m. on Penny Benton Road, Town of White Oak Springs.

According to a Lafayette Sheriff's Department news release, a woman reported an altercation during which a handgun was fired, with an unknown man leaving the area by vehicle shortly thereafter.

Subsequent investigation into the incident by the Lafayette and Grant county sheriff's departments led to the arrest of Heisz at his residence. Heisz was transported to the Lafayette County Jail.

Pending charges against Heisz include attempted homicide, false imprisonment and battery. Attempted homicide can carry a life sentence.
