MONTICELLO - A Madison man was killed Tuesday evening after a severe traffic collision on Wisconsin 69, Town of Monticello.
William D. Burdick, 35, was reported dead at the scene of a semi truck vs. pickup truck collision at the intersection of Wis. 69 and County C at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Green County Sheriff Mark Rohloff said the crash occurred after a pickup truck, driven by Paul L. Warner, 63, Oregon, failed to properly stop at the intersection while traveling on County C. The semi truck, driven by James S. Chipman, 64, Pigeon, Michigan, was driving southbound on Wis. 69 and struck the front-right side of the pickup, causing it to roll over.
Burdick and Warner were ejected from the vehicle. First responders declared Burdick dead at the scene, while Warner was seriously injured, but conscious. Warner was transported by Med Flight to UW Madison.
No injuries to Chipman were reported.
Rohloff said alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the collision, although the incident remains under investigation.
