James A. Ogbeide, 51, Madison, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County Coroner¹s office, according to a news release issued Saturday by Green County Sheriff Randy Roderick.

Deputies report a 1997 Chevrolet S-10 driven by Lawrence A. Pfaff, 23, Monroe, was eastbound on Wis. 11 when it crossed the center line and hit Ogbeide's westbound 2001 Nissan Sentra.

Pfaff's vehicle left the road, overturned and caught fire. Pfaff was not wearing a seatbelt, and was taken to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison by Med-Flight with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Green County Sheriff's Department, the Green County Coroner's office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Roderick said alcohol may be a factor in the crash.
