MONROE - Monroe Arts Center announced that open auditions for the 2015 "On the Air" Radio Variety Show (formerly MAC Radio Live Showcase) will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Monroe Arts Center, 1315 11th St. The performances are scheduled to take place in January 2015 on Big Radio.

MAC will host the annual event showcasing individuals and groups from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Directed by musician and theater professional Jean Woolworth, along with musical direction by musician and composer Rich Woolworth, "On the Air" will be presented in the same vein as a live radio show, such as Prairie Home Companion. Emceed by Big Radio's own Dan Blue, the live variety show will include music, comedy and commercial jingles, all backed up by a live, on-stage house band.

All levels of performers are encouraged to audition. Auditions are open to adults, children and any sized group and all genres of music (popular, jazz, folk, orchestral, chamber, solo, etc.), comedy acts (stand-up, skits, improv) and other types of acts will be considered. Performers are required to audition a well-prepared act in its entirety, up to a maximum of three minutes in length. Performance attire, costumes or props are mandatory at auditions.

"On the Air" Radio Variety Show performances will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16 and Saturday, Jan. 17 in the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center. General admission tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for students (18 and under). Tickets are available at the Monroe Arts Center box office.
