MONROE - The Monroe Arts Center announced its 2014-15 entertainment season lineup. This upcoming season marks MAC's 39th year.

The Sunday Concert Series begins on Sept. 14 with the violin, piano and clarinet by Madison's Kat Trio. On Oct. 19, Juilliard violinist Francesa Anderegg will deliver a contemporary and classical program. New York cellist Benjamin Capps and Russian pianist Vassily Primakov close this series on Nov. 16 with the program "Soul of Cello and Piano."

Three shows will be presented at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center in the upcoming season. On Oct. 4, "A John Denver Musical Tribute," starring Ted Vigil, honors the music icon. Denver's songs, such as "Leavin' On A Jet Plane," "Rocky Mountain High," and "Thank God I'm a Country Boy," will be featured.

The second performance at PAC takes place Nov. 1 when The Diamonds return to Monroe to perform hits such as "Little Darlin'," "Silhouettes," "The Stroll," and "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," along with choreography and a musical salute to American Bandstand.

Roy "Dusty" Rogers Jr. and his band The High Riders take the PAC stage on May 16 to play classic cowboy and western, bluegrass, and country music, along with stories of the Roy Rogers' family heritage. Grandson Dustin Rogers will join Rogers Jr. on stage singing in the cowboy tradition of his father and grandfather.

Four shows will be presented at MAC in 2014-15. Starting in November, the all-female trio called The WhiskeyBelles will perform classic country, Americana, and folk-revival tunes, along with their own fiddle, guitar, and bass playing. In February, the duo Switchback will play American roots and Celtic soul music. March is the month for the return of the Juno award-winners The Good Lovelies, an all-girl band who combine folksy-roots and western swing with country and jazz tunes.

Della's Diner, the off-Broadway comedy about a "woman with a past" who realizes her dream of opening a diner, takes the MAC stage in April.

Other MAC performances include an evening of gospel and holiday songs in December by Madison's Mt. Zion Gospel Choir. Wisconsin's 1st Brigade Band performs in March with a rousing program memorializing the end of the Civil War 150 years ago. Also in March the Madison Youth Choirs, under the direction of Michael Ross, return to the MAC stage with another spring program. In June, a program of words and music by Parker Palmer and Carrie Newcomer gives voice to "Healing the Heart of Democracy."

Numerous MAC-sponsored community events are planned for the upcoming season. Broadcast on Big Radio, "On the Air Radio Variety Show" brings some individuals in the area to the stage for two consecutive nights in January. Other events include the annual Holiday Silent Auction, Underwriters Preview Party, A Taste of Spring and the rebroadcast of A Christmas Carol Radio Show.
