MONROE - Monroe Arts Center is offering an afternoon youth art class on early release Mondays from Sept. 19 through Nov. 14 for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

There will be a free, no-obligation open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Monroe Arts Center at 1315 11th St., for students, parents and other family members to learn the details regarding this new program.

There will be demonstrations of various types of art projects, along with hands-on "make-and-take" items. Art instructors and Monroe Arts Center staff will be available to help with projects and answer questions about the classes. Those attending the night of the open house will have the first opportunity to register students for the upcoming eight-week art sessions.

The classes will be at MAC from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Each session will be led by area artists and art instructors who will provide lessons in various aspects of art and art techniques. Instructors will guide students through each project, while instilling creativity and expanding the imaginations of budding artists.

Enrollment in the class is limited. The fee per student is $40, and all supplies are included. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Sept. 13. To register or for more information, contact Monroe Arts Center at 608-325-5700.
