MAC names winners in its annual photography contest

MONROE - Winners from among the 45 photographers and more than 80 photographs entered in Monroe Arts Center's 24th annual Photography Contest and Exhibit have been announced.

Photographers in two age classifications, adult and junior, competed in three separate categories that included person, place and thing. The contest was judged by members of the Signature Seven professional photography group.

Winners in the person category in the junior classification were Sarah Sabatke, first place; Natalie Callahan, second place; and Emily Makos, third place. Place category winners in the junior classification were Callahan, first place; Sabatke, second place; and Connor Brauer, third place. Winners of the thing category in the junior classification were Cassandra Scheider, first place; Raechell Pertzborn, second place; and Makos, third place. Junior Best of Show awards went to Callahan, Monroe, for her black and white photo, "Close to Home." First runner-up was Scheider, Argyle, and second runner-up was Sabatke, Monticello.

Winners in the person category in the adult classification were Randy Haglund, first place; Ashley Nedeau-Owen, second place; and Erica Foulker, third place. Place category winners in the adult classification were Sarah Tomasiewicz, first place; Nedeau-Owen, second place; and Brianna Roesslein, third place. Thing category winners in the adult classification were Kerissa Leverton, first place; Susan Venden, second place; and Paula Ritschard, third place. Adult Best of Show was awarded to Haglund, Monroe, for his photograph "School Boy." First runner-up was Tomasiewicz, Monroe, and second runner-up was Leverton, Lena.
