MONROE - The Mt. Zion Gospel Choir of Madison will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall at the Monroe Arts Center, 1315 11th St.
Under the direction of Leotha and Tamera Stanley, the Mt. Zion Gospel Choir uses traditional gospel harmonies. For more than 30 years, the choir has combined jazz, blues and gospel harmonies in performances throughout Wisconsin.
Some of the choir's highlights include performances with the UW-Madison Marching Band, a concert for Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and tours in both Germany and France. They have sung with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, and with music legends Michael Bolton, Yolanda Adams, Lyle Lovett, and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
The performance of Mt. Zion Gospel Choir will close the 2014 MAC Holiday Silent Auction. Final bids will be accepted until 7:15 p.m. Bids may be placed in person or by contacting the Monroe Arts Center.
General admission tickets for the Mt. Zion Gospel Choir performance are $10 for adults and $5 for students 18 years of age and under. Members of the Monroe Arts Center may attend this concert for free.
