MONROE - Monroe Arts Center opens the 2015-2016 Entertainment Season with a variety of informative, entertaining and inspiring programs.

The upcoming season marks MAC's 40th year of presenting high-quality and affordable entertainment for the entire family.

Five concerts are scheduled for the Sunday Concert Series at MAC. The new season opens Sept. 13 with the melodious sound of piano, cello and violins by the Mosaic Chamber Players of Madison. Next, Balalaika and Piano Duo performs Oct. 18 with a musical repertoire ranging from Russian and Eastern European folk to classical and contemporary compositions. On Nov. 15, The Damen Trio brings a program of both classical and jazz works played on the marimba, flute and cello. Returning to the MAC stage for a breathtaking musical performance Dec. 13 are cellist Ben Capps and pianist Vassily Primakov. Performing along with them are clarinetist Alexey Gorokholinsky and pianist Natalia Lavrova. The final concert of this series takes place May 22 when the Madison Youth Choirs perform their spring program.

Five shows are scheduled to take place at Monroe High School Performing Arts Center in the upcoming season. On Oct. 2, the Grammy-winning trio Los Lonely Boys will heat up the stage with their infectious mix of rock, blues, Tex-Mex, conjunto and Tejano. The three Garza brothers play an explosive and thunderous style of music they often refer to as "Texican Rock 'n' Roll."

Direct from the stages in Branson, Missouri and America's Got Talent in Las Vegas, the uproariously funny musical comedy of 3 Redneck Tenors happens Nov. 7. Billy Bob, Billy Joe and Billy Billee, who are actually classically trained veteran artists, will entertain with their vocal prowess and a smorgasbord of songs and music ranging from Elvis to Puccini, gospel to pop, and country to Broadway. It's like Duck Dynasty goes to Carnegie Hall.

A special PAC concert by musician and vocalist S. Carey is scheduled for March 19, 2016. Best known as the drummer and supporting vocalist of the Grammy Award-winning indie folk band Bon Iver, Carey also tours with his own band. His blend of music, which stems from his love of jazz, modern classical and Americana, is described as "simultaneously restful and rhythmic, complex and simple, and always evolving."

"Cherish," "Windy," "Never My Love," "Along Comes Mary," "Everything That Touches You" and "Six Man Band" are some of the hits by one of the most popular and successful bands in American music. Now on their highly acclaimed Anniversary Tour, The Association will perform in Monroe on May 14, 2016. They have sold more than 80 million records, tapes, CDs and DVDs, along with six gold and three platinum discs. They were nominated a total of seven times for Grammy Awards, nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Music for their music in the film Goodbye Columbus, and in 2011, their hit song Windy was featured in its entirety on the hit television show Breaking Bad.

An incredible line-up of four shows will be coming to the MAC stage. On Nov. 21, New Odyssey is the first show to take the stage in the 2015-16 seasons. Just three guys who bring an unbelievable show of great music, remarkable vocals, audience participation and comedy, along with outstanding arrangements of favorite songs in almost every style and genre, performed on 30 different instruments.

The sharp-suited, classically vintage Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets perform on Feb. 27, 2016 with their new tribute production, "Everything Old is New Again." Backed by a live band, this crazy foursome serves up the "best of their best" doo-wop and rock 'n' roll music, with stirring vocal harmonies, humor and captivating choreography.

The upbeat musical "A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline" will be presented March 12, 2016. Wearing a stunning array of elaborate show costumes, "Patsy" performs 22 of Cline's greatest hits such as "Walkin' After Midnight," "Sweet Dreams" and "I Fall to Pieces." "A Closer Walk" is a loving tribute to Cline's spirit and a celebration of the music of her life.

Hailed as a "certified lunatic and master of the impossible," Tomás Kubínek will bring his comic genius, virtuoso vaudevillian antics and all-round charm to MAC on April 2, 2016. His brilliant and outrageous theatrics leave audiences clutching their sides with laughter, breathless and madly in love with this consummate master of whimsy, who beautifully balances the absurd and the profound.

Holiday performances include "It's a Wonderful Life: Live From WVL Radio Theatre" on Dec. 6 and The Dickens Carollers on Dec. 12.

On Oct. 15, Marvel Comics illustrator Jerry DeCaire brings his artistic talent to MAC with the special presentation "Science of the Superhero." Watch favorite superheroes such as Thor, X-Men, The Phantom, and Wolverine come alive as DeCaire's live hand-drawing demonstrations are projected onto a large screen. DeCaire will illustrate how math and science merge, as well as comment on the history of comics and other nuances of comic art.

Numerous MAC-sponsored community events are also planned for the new season. Broadcast on Big Radio, "Showcase of Talent" brings some of the most talented individuals in the area to the stage for two consecutive nights of entertainment in January. Other annual events include the Holiday Silent Auction, Underwriters Preview Party, A Taste of Spring and the rebroadcast of "A Christmas Carol Radio Show."
