MADISON - Pauline Mau, R.N., sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) at Monroe Clinic ER, will be honored for her work under the category of health and human services at the annual Voices of Courage Awards ceremony, which starts at noon Saturday, April 28 at a luncheon at Bethel Lutheran Church, Madison.
The Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault, in partnership with 46 sexual assault service providers across the state, recognizes and honors the work of Wisconsin individuals and organizations for their efforts to end sexual violence. The awards are given in eight categories.
Mau is being honored for her efforts to start the SANE program at Monroe Clinic. She also helped establish the Sexual Assault Recovery Program (SARP) and convinced the Monroe Clinic to provide necessary infrastructure. She helped establish the Child Advocacy Center in Green County.
In addition, she trains EMS, medical staff, law enforcement and other first responders in the area of sexual assault and works with advocates to ensure the victim/survivor has the support and information needed.
