Cheese Days seeking volunteers

MONROE - Green County Cheese Days is looking for volunteers to help with the festival, set for Friday, Sept. 14 through Sunday, Sept. 16.

Shifts available in the beer stand are 10:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6:45 to 11 p.m. Friday; 9 to 11 p.m. Saturday; and 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., 12:45 to 4 p.m., and 3:45 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Help is need in the retail tent from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Volunteers are needed to sell reserved bleacher seats for The Swiss Colony Cheese Days Parade. The shift is from 10 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Throughout the weekend, volunteers are needed for various shifts to check for permits on cars in lots designated handicap parking.

Helpers are also needed to set-up and clean-up the festival. The set-up shift is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 and the clean-up shift is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16.

All helpers receive a commemorative volunteer T-shirt.

Sponsors sought for b-ball event

MONROE - The Green County Child Advocacy Center is looking for donations for its fund-raising basketball event with the Harlem Ambassadors. The event will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Monroe High School, 1600 26th St.

The Harlem Ambassadors is a traveling basketball team known for their ball handling and high-flying slam dunks. The group caters to small communities for fundraising opportunities.

Sponsorship for each player is $190 and the center is looking for donations in any amount. The center is also looking for donations of goods, including food, water and Gatorade, as well as concession items to be sold at the event.

South Wayne

Fish boil slated for Saturday night

SOUTH WAYNE - The South Wayne EMS Fish Boil fundraiser will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at the South Wayne Fire Station, 107 East Center St.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $11 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at Woodford State Bank, 212 W. Wisconsin 11; Monroe Glass, 1408 11th St.; or through any EMS member.

Money raised will be used for training and equipment.
