MONROE -The Monroe Public Library's 17th annual Tree-Trimming Party will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at the library, 925 16th Ave. Children ages 3 and up are invited to attend with their parents, grandparents or other adults.
The Tree-Trimming Party is held each year to make ornaments for the tree that decorates the library lobby. This year, the ornaments will include Snowman Sam, Peppermint Kitty, Old Time Paper Chains, Yummy Cupcakes and Star Spirals.
Activities that day include a special holiday storytimes presented by Kris Ault, youth services coordinator, at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The newest holiday books will be available to check out during the program.
Children can stop by the Cookie Corner for cookies and punch during the party. The library will need about 50 dozen cookies and the library welcomes donations of homemade cookies or bars. Community bakers may drop off their plain or fancy treats at the library on Friday, Nov. 16, or after 9 a.m. on Saturday.
VolunTEEN elves will be on hand to show youngsters how to make the ornaments and guide families to activities. More VolunTEEN elves are needed to make the day a success. VolunTEENS may earn service hours for school, church or scouts by helping with the Tree-Trimming Party.
