MONROE - The Monroe Public Library is accepting pre-orders for the "Green County Gold" DVD.
After the library discovered the film, which features Green County in the early 1950s, in its archives, the 22-minute color film was converted to DVD.
Motion picture producer, photographer and naturalist Grant Halladay contracted with the Green County Publicity Committee and began shooting various scenes throughout Green County in the spring of 1950. The film highlights the Swiss heritage the county is famous for and includes footage from the 1950 Cheese Days, Green County Fair and the Wilhelm Tell Festival, as well as local farms and cheese factories producing Green County's "gold" - Swiss cheese.
Pre-orders will be accepted through Friday, July 20, at the discounted rate of $8. After July 20, the DVD will be $10.
