BELMONT — Lafayette County law enforcement arrested two people for drugs after executing a search warrant Thursday.
At approximately 6:41 a.m. on March 20, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Belmont Police Department and the Richland, Iowa, Grant Drug Task Force, executed a narcotics search warrant at 344 South Mound Avenue, in the Village of Belmont.
The search warrant resulted in the arrest of two individuals. Misty M. Gobrecht, 47, and Connor W.H. Varvil, 20, were taken into custody and transported to the Lafayette County Jail, according to a press release. Gobrecht remains in custody, pending an initial appearance in Lafayette County Circuit Court. Varvil was booked into jail and then released on a signature bond, pending his initial appearance in Lafayette County Circuit Court.
Gobrecht has been tentatively charged with Possession of Cocaine with intent to deliver, within 1,000 feet of a day care, Possession of THC with intent to deliver, within 1,000 feet of a day care, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place.
Varvil has been tentatively charged with Possession of THC with intent to deliver, within 1,000 feet of a day care, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place.
This case will be forwarded to the Lafayette County District Attorney’s Office for evaluation of additional charges.
As always, all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
