MONROE - The 2014 Green County Cheese Days contest for kids is "Build a Cheese House." All types of building materials are acceptable, as long as the main features are constructed from at least one variety of locally made Green County cheese.

The "Build a Cheese House" contest is open to children ages 4 through 12. Contestants will construct their house and submit a picture for preliminary judging. Houses must be no larger than an 8.5- by 11-inch sheet of paper and under 1-foot-tall.

Three finalists will be selected from the three age divisions to appear on stage with a completed model of their house in the Colony Brands Hospitality Tent for final judging at 10 a.m. Sept. 20. Judging criteria is based on originality and creativity. Contestants should be prepared to tell what variety or varieties of cheese were used in construction.
