MONROE - As the second installment of Concerts on the Square, the rhythm and blues band The Jimmys will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23 on the west side of the Square, downtown Monroe. The concert is sponsored by Main Street Monroe, Inc. and underwritten by Colony Brands, Inc.
Those attending are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. For the first time, WEKZ will be broadcasting the concert live. Dan Blum of WEKZ will MC the concert.
Box lunches will be available at Café Claudeen's, Pancho and Lefty's, and Boomerang Bakery. All are located on or near the Square. Special Olympics volunteers will be selling popcorn as a fundraiser. Bartels Pub and Ruf's Confectionery provide the popcorn to the group free of charge.
Beverages will be available at a beer stand sponsored by the Green County Humane Society. Monroe Main Street will sell snow cones and water.
In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move to The Roller Den, 1506 31st Ave., Monroe. A sign announcing the move will be posted on the square and announced on WEKZ. For more information, contact Karen Stollenwerk at (608) 328-1767.
