PECATONICA — Illinois State Police District 16 Commander, Lieutenant Joseph Blanchette, announced District 16 enforcement figures and activity for the month of February 2021. 

Illinois State Police District 16 Troopers issued 354 total citations and 415 written warnings during the month. Speed violations accounted for 141 citations. Fifteen citations were issued for occupant restraint violations and 18 enforcement documents were issued for distracted driving violations.

Troopers investigated 45 traffic crashes and assisted 183 motorists. One hundred fifty-six commercial motor vehicle inspections were completed with 10 drivers and/or vehicles being placed out of service.

Troopers made four arrests for driving under the influence and 16 criminal arrests. Thirty-two enforcement documents were issued for Scott’s Law violations. Six school safety checks were performed by troopers. 

District 16, which encompasses Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Winnebago, and Boone Counties, had four traffic fatalities.
