MONROE - Inmates eligible for work release from the Green County Jail are continuing to find work, according to numbers presented to the county Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee at its monthly meeting Wednesday, July 10.
An average of nine of 22 eligible inmates were out working in June, the same number as in May. From January through April, the number of inmates out working averaged less than four.
Jail population crept up to a daily average of 48 in June, up from 44 in May.
On Wednesday, the jail population was at 55 inmates.
"We're on the upswing again into the 50s," said Sheriff Jeff Skatrud.
