MONROE - A Green County Jail inmate faces a misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree sexual assault after a fellow inmate accused her of unwanted touching.

Alesa Marie Dae Hamby, 18, Janesville, is also charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Her initial appearance in court is April 23.

According to the criminal complaint, Hamby grabbed another inmate's breast on Feb. 11, and when the inmate asked her why she did that, Hamby told her because it was "perky."

The victim told investigators Hamby "keeps invading her personal space" even though she's asked Hamby to stop.

When questioned, Hamby admitted to saying "inappropriate things" but said she did not think the victim was offended by them because she was laughing.

"Hamby became quite upset by the accusations and does not understand why this is the second time someone has claimed she has sexually assaulted her," a deputy noted in a report filed with the case.

A third inmate interviewed as a witness said Hamby "was nice but had no filter and said inappropriate things to everyone."

As of April 11, state court records showed Hamby was being held at the Rock County Jail. She has convictions of disorderly conduct, battery and resisting or obstructing an officer on her record, but no prior charges for sexual assault.
