MONROE - Green County Sheriff Jeff Skatrud announced Monday that the sheriff's department will be intensifying its traffic enforcement during the upcoming St. Patrick's Day and during the following weekend.

The increased patrols are part of a $15,000 grant received from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Traffic Safety and are intended to enforce drunken driving laws and prevent fatalities or injuries.

St. Patrick's day is Thursday.
