MONROE - After trying to elude police by climbing out a motel room window, an Illinois woman has been arrested for supplying heroin to two women who overdosed on the drug last month.

Jenny Mae Rogers, 27, Nora, Ill., was arrested Monday on two counts of recklessly endangering safety, a class D felony, and a count of criminal damage to property to the motel room window screen, a class A misdemeanor.

Two women in their early 20s were taken by ambulance to Monroe Clinic Hospital shortly before 11 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 after it was suspected they overdosed on heroin in the restroom of a rural Monroe tavern. Both were revived and released. Preliminary information was that both women had been injected with heroin by a third party, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.

Since that time, law enforcement has been investigating to track down the individual who allegedly supplied the women with the suspected heroin.

On Monday, detectives received a tip that Rogers was staying at a motel in the 500 block of 6th Street in Monroe. At approximately 10:30 a.m., detectives from the Green County Sheriff's Department and the Monroe Police Department approached the motel room, where Rogers attempted to flee from the room through a window. Rogers was taken into custody without incident by a detective who was waiting outside of the window. She was transported to the Green County Jail and jailed pending a court appearance.

Detectives later executed a search warrant on the motel room and located evidence that may be related to injecting controlled substances. Members of the Stateline Area Narcotics Team (SLANT) also assisted during the investigation.

Rogers faces a fine of up to $25,000 fine and up to 12 1/2 months imprisonment for the recklessly endangering safety charge. She faces a fine of up to $10,000 and nine months in jail for the criminal damage to property charge.
