Illinois State Police announce results of nighttime enforcement

PECATONICA, Ill. — Illinois State Police District 16 Commander Lt. Heintz announces the results of nighttime enforcement patrols in Winnebago County during Aug. 25-26. These NITE patrols allowed the ISP to focus on preventing, detecting and taking enforcement action in response to impaired driving and occupant restraint violations especially between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. 

Violations reported were: driving under the influence citation: 1; occupant restraint offenses: 6; registration offenses: 1; driver’s license offenses: 6; insurance violations: 2; total citations/arrests:24/7; and total written warnings: 13.

Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois. Over half of all fatal crashes in Illinois occur at night. This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
