MADISON - Senator-Elect Howard Marklein, R-Spring Green, has been appointed by Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald to serve on the Joint Finance Committee of the Wisconsin State Legislature.
The 16-member Joint Finance Committee has the primary responsibility of reviewing the appropriations in the state budget each biennium. In addition to appointing Marklein to the committee, Fitzgerald also appointed Sen. Alberta Darling, R-River Hills, co-chair; Sen. Luther Olsen, R-Ripon, vice chair; Sen. Leah Vukmir, R-Wauwatosa; and Sen. Tom Tiffany, R-Hazelhurst.
Marklein will begin his first term in the state Senate in January 2015. He is currently the state representative for the 51st Assembly District, having been elected to serve in 2010.
