MONROE - Jennifer Hopkins, the Monroe woman hospitalized after the traffic collision that claimed the lives of three Monroe teens, was released Monday from University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.
Hopkins, a 35-year-old mother of six, was transported by Med Flight to UW Hospital in critical condition Friday, after she was involved in the two-vehicle collision south of Monroe.
A release from the Green County Sheriff's Department said Hopkins' family and friends would provide home care during her recovery.
A friend of Hopkins, Marcia Dahmen, said Hopkins is expected to make a full recovery, although she added that Hopkins was reluctant to disclose the extent of her injuries.
Dahmen set up a fundraiser for Hopkins on mealtrain.com, a website that allows both monetary donations and scheduled meal donations, on Monday.
"I just wanted to set up donations until the end of February, but that filled up in 45 minutes," Dahmen said. "So I added three more weeks to the donation period and that filled up too."
The donations will help the family cover medical expenses as well as care for her six children, who range from 5 to 16 years old, Dahmen said.
"Jennifer wants it known how much she's thinking of the others," Dahmen said, referring to the three teens. "She's just as heartbroken as all of us and she's overwhelmed by everyone's support."
