Four area caucuses have determined who will be listed on the spring ballot for Browntown, Argyle, Monticello and New Glarus.
Candidates will be voted into office on April 5, which is also the presidential primary election. For the villages of Argyle, Monticello and Browntown, each board is comprised of a president and six trustees, as well as a clerk/treasurer. The Town of New Glarus has a chair leading the board with four supervisors and a clerk/treasurer as members.
Green County
Village of Browntown: Two trustee seats are open on the village board. Incumbents Justin Zarling and Gerald Miller are looking for another term. The caucus held on Jan. 19 nominated both to continue their tenure with no competition stepping forward.
Village of Monticello: The village held its caucus on Jan. 6. Three trustee seats are up for grabs. The race is between incumbents Robert Harvey and Larry Strause. Newcomers Stephen Scanlan and David Velte are also competing for a spot. Incumbent Doreen O'Brien has decided not to seek re-election as trustee.
Town of New Glarus: The town's caucus was held Jan. 12. The third and fourth supervisor will be decided in the April 5 election. Incumbent Jim Hoesly currently holds the third supervisor position, and incumbent Robert Elkins is seated in the fourth. Both are two-year terms, and both are seeking re-election without competition.
Lafayette County
Village of Argyle: The caucus held Jan. 12 brought in some new faces while leaving others behind. President Wayne Wilson is not seeking a new term. Current trustee James Larson is looking to replace Wilson. Andrew Chenous and Larson are not running for trustee positions, but fellow incumbent Ismael Hinojosa will be running for re-election. Newcomer Bradley Ostby will be running for a seat on the board, and Dave Soper, who had served as a trustee in the past, will be running for a seat as well.
