MONROE - Police searched a Monroe home Tuesday evening regarding an email sent earlier this week that threatened to blow up Monroe High School.
Police executed the search warrant at about 7 p.m. at a home in the 1700 block of 16th Street as part of their continuing investigation into the bomb threat, according to a news release from Police Chief Fred Kelley.
The threat was sent via a Monroe student's school email account. Police have said they believe the email account was hacked and they were following several leads into the true sender.
Police seized items during the search as part of the investigation.
Kelley said because the investigation is ongoing, no further information is being released.
The email, which was sent to MHS teachers and students, prompted a search of the school late Sunday night. The building was deemed secure and classes were held as scheduled Monday, but with an increased police presence. Officials also said students are being searched upon entering the building this week.
