Hit-and-run crash causes power outage
accident

ALBANY — A hit-and-run crash in Albany caused several homes in the area to lose power early Monday, Dec. 16, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the vehicle is yet to be determined, however a 17-year-old male from Dane County has been cited for non-registration of an automobile and failure to report an accident as a liable vehicle owner, said Chief Deputy Tom Moczynski.

Deputies located the crashed, unoccupied vehicle at about 12:30 a.m. at County E and Peckham Road.

Investigation revealed the vehicle was eastbound on County E when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. It then went off the road and collided with a power pole, causing severe damage to the vehicle and airbag deployment.

Alliant Energy responded to replace the pole and repair power lines. The accident remains under investigation.
