DARLINGTON - A Hazel Green man charged with three felonies Friday is free on bond.
Chance L. Clauer, 21, faces a Class C felony count of second-degree sexual assault involving the use of force and Class H felony counts of false imprisonment and strangulation and suffocation.
If convicted on all three charges, Clauer faces a combined maximum sentence of 52 years in prison, $120,000 in fines, or both.
The charges stem from a May 23 domestic disturbance at Clauer's residence on Buncombe Road, Lt. Theresa Burgess of the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department said Friday.
Clauer signed a $20,000 bond after making his initial appearance in Lafayette County Circuit Court Friday, according to court records. He is ordered not to contact the victims or possess firearms.
Police learned of the disturbance Wednesday, Burgess said, and arrested Clauer later that day. He had been held in Lafayette County jail since then.
He has a preliminary hearing June 12.
