MONROE - Trick-or-treating meets tailgating during the Trunk-or-Treat event on Thursday, Oct. 31, following the Halloween parade.
Participants will park their vehicles on the Square while children trunk-or-treat around the cars. People can decorate their cars and wear a costume. Main Street Monroe is offering a grand prize to the best-decorated vehicle.
Trunk-or-treat participants must register for free by Monday, Oct. 28. To register, contact Main Street Monroe at 608-328-4023.
Vehicles must be parked by 4:15 p.m. Oct. 31. Volunteers will direct vehicles to the inner ring of the Square.
Also available is the pumpkin carving or painting contest that is open to children and adults. Prizes will be awarded by age group and a people's choice grand prize will be decided Oct. 31 by ballot. Registration forms were sent home to all Monroe school district children. Adults and children wishing to enter must bring their pumpkins to the garden on the Square between 4 and 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.
In addition, the annual Halloween parade is set for 4:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Any children, parents and pets in costume are welcome to walk in the parade. Those wanting to be in the parade must be at the north side of the Monroe Middle School by 4:15 p.m.
