MONROE - Green County Habitat for Humanity will use one of the two duplexes at Pleasant View Nursing Home to provide a home for a family in Monroe.

The county recently offered the duplexes to anyone who wanted to move them from the nursing home property.

Habitat construction coordinator Tiger Myers said the organization plans to move half of the duplex to a Monroe location. The location site hasn't been finalized, she said.

"We're going to disassemble the garage and basement to prepare the home for the move," she said.

The home will receive a new roof and other changes to make it energy efficient. Myers said the home is in "pretty good condition."

"We're excited about this," Myers said.

She said she hopes to have the home moved sometime this summer.

No special experience is needed. People should wear good work boots. Volunteers can also bring crow bars and hammers.
