Guerin wins Miss Wisconsin crown

FOND DU LAC - Emily Guerin, a Monroe native, was crowned Miss Wisconsin USA 2012 Sunday evening in Fond du Lac.

Guerin, 22, is a 2007 graduate of Monroe High School. Her parents are Lance and Diana Guerin, Monroe.

It was the first pageant Guerin, a former Cheese Days princess, has entered, according to family friend Connie Driver who was among supporters there to see Guerin compete.

"Someone suggested she do it," Driver said.

The pageant consists of three segments: evening gown, swimwear and interview. It is open to unmarried Wisconsin residents between the ages of 14 and 26.

Guerin will compete for the title of Miss USA 2012 on live television next year. The winner of that competition will go on the compete for Miss Universe.
