This is a bird's-eye view taken by Will E. Trukenbrod. It looks to the southeast from the Methodist church in Monroe. It was taken before the "new" high school was built in 1906. This is one of the 260 photos that will be included in the "Monroe Area Pictorial History" later this year. You may get a sneak peek at more of the photos included in the book at 1:30 p.m. May 9 at the senior center; at 7 p.m. May 11 in the second-floor meeting room at the Monroe Public Library; at 1:30 p.m. May 16 at the Twining Valley apartment building; or at 2 p.m. May 26 at Aster Retirement Community. The public is invited to all of these events, with those at the senior center having to be 55 or older. More information about a pre-publication price will be shared in May.
