Green County Genealogical Society to hold next monthly meeting Oct. 1

MONROE — The Green County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. 

The program “FamilySearch for Your Genealogical Research” will be presented by Sister Sharon Headley. Sister Headley will be sharing how to use the free FamilySearch website for your family research. 

Included will be: How to set up your own free FamilySearch account and link into the family tree; How to search records for your ancestors; Learning about where your family came from and more. Also, will be an explanation of the member benefits for searching subscription newspaper websites. There will be a sign-up sheet for individual or small group assistance for getting started with FamilySearch. Sister Sharon Headley and her husband, Elder Mark Headley, are missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They have been in the Monroe area for this past year and will be returning to Utah next spring. 

The meeting will be held in the second-floor meeting room of the Monroe Public Library at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1. Visitors are always welcome and there is no cost to attend.
