DARLINGTON — A man was arrested over the weekend after deputies responded to a bar fight in Gratiot, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Brant A. Guillory, 35, Gratiot, was jailed on charges of aggravated battery and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

Deputies made the arrest after responding to The Brick Saloon on Main Street at 12:36 a.m. Saturday, May 18.

During a fight, Guillory left the bar and then came back in armed with a gun and “pistol-whipped” another man in the head, said Sheriff Reg Gill.

The victim had a cut on his head with a lot of bleeding, Gill said. Two ambulances were paged to the scene, along with a paramedic from Monroe.

Deputies were unable to get much information on what prompted the fight, due to a “lack of cooperation” from both parties with the investigation, Gill said.
