MONROE – Former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch toured the Klondike Cheese Factory in Monroe on Monday, Jan. 17, highlighting what her campaign called “the importance of the dairy industry to Wisconsin’s economy and standing up for Wisconsin family businesses.”
“We were proud to host former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch,” said Klondike’s Ron Buholzer.
Ron and the Buholzer family are part of a four-generation Klondike cheesemaking operation, according to Kleefisch. Kleefisch, a Republican, is running for a spot to unseat Gov. Tony Evers.
“Family businesses like Klondike are the jewels of Wisconsin and we need a governor who will address Wisconsin’s labor shortage and prioritize economic growth,” she said.
Wisconsin cheeses are nationally recognized, and having support from the state’s leadership is essential to success, Buholzer said.
“As governor, I will always fight for Wisconsin agriculture and support our farmers, producers, and cheesemakers,” Kleefisch said, adding that Wisconsin makes more than a quarter of the nation’s cheese.
