MONROE — The Green County Veterans Service Office would like to remind area veterans about the Wisconsin G.I. Bill, which is an education benefit completely separate from the Federal G.I. Bill.

The Wisconsin G.I. Bill tuition remission program provides a waiver of tuition and fees at University of Wisconsin System and Wisconsin Technical College System schools. Eligible veterans may receive up to 128 credits. The veteran had to have been a resident of the State of Wisconsin at the time they joined the military or has been a resident for five years.

There is no expiration date for benefits.

The Wisconsin G.I. Bill is also available to children under age 26 and spouses of disabled veterans rated 30% or higher by the VA. For further questions  contact the county veterans service office at 608-328-9415.
