MONROE - Applications for the 2013-14 Green County Leaders program are now being accepted.

GCL is an educational program where individuals can practice leadership skills, deepen their understanding of community issues and prepare for leadership roles.

GCL is seeking individuals who are:

• Passionate about strengthening community and civic awareness, commitment and involvement.

• Interested in their community and committed to making a difference.

• Open-minded and willing to take risks.

• Motivated and interested in new learning, self-discovery, community exposure and networking.

• Interested in opportunities for advancement into leadership positions within their own organization.

• Individuals with a commitment to live and/or work in Green County.

The program begins with an orientation on Tuesday, Sept. 10 and a half-day session on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The program will continue one day a month from October through May. Classes are generally held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the second Wednesday of each month. Program days are dedicated to both personal leadership development and community orientation, led by a variety of trainers, facilitators and community leaders. There are activities required outside of program days that provide outlets to use and refine skills, concepts, tools introduced in sessions, and readings which are integral program components.

Brochures and applications for the program are available at the Green County University of Wisconsin-Extension, 2841 6th St. The program is open to the public. A limited number of scholarships are available. Applications are due Friday, July 26.
