7I·L7.t´ After more than 16 years with Green County Development Corporation, Anna Schramke, executive director, submitted her resignation at a board meeting Thursday, May 16.

Schramke said her decision to step down was a personal one, a long time in coming and with consideration of her family.

"There was really no good time to quit," she said.

But the public-private corporation now has some "momentum moving forward" with its new, three-year plan of action implemented this January, and whoever takes over should be able to step in comfortably, she added.

GCDC assists new businesses looking to establish in or around Green County and existing business seeking to grow or relocate by providing data on the local communities, available buildings and sites, labor force and demographics. The organization can also help access incentives and financial assistance programs for businesses.

Nic Owen, president of GCDC, said Schramke's resignation, effective June 30, came as a surprise.

The executive committee is scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Monroe Clinic, and will begin the process of finding a new executive director, Owen said.

GCDC will continue with its new plan and goals, he added.

Schramke said she has no employment plans for the immediate future, but will be looking at different opportunities in the area. She also said she plans to spend more time with family members.
