DARLINGTON - A Galena man suffered non-life-threatening injuries after his vehicle hit a utility pole and became fully engulfed in flames Friday in Darlington.

Julio Cesar Moctezuma, 42, was cited for failure to keep a vehicle under control, driving without insurance, driving without a valid driver's license, causing property damage and driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Moctezuma was northbound on County E when he failed to negotiate a curve, and his 2000 Chrysler hit a fence and then the pole. When emergency responders arrived, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Moctezuma was transported via Rural Medical Ambulance to an area hospital for his injuries.

The fire was put out, and the vehicle was later towed from the scene.
