MONROE - In a meeting Thursday, the City of Monroe Visitor and Promotion Board reviewed its financial statement.
The board paid back to the city $6,240.70 as part of a previously overlooked $36,240.70 advancement. The remaining $30,000 will be paid back in installments as the board receives its revenues.
With the payment, $40,600 remains in the treasury; $1,750 in approved funding is outstanding.
"Everything else we approved has been paid," Mayor Ron Marsh said.
The board approved preliminary funding in the amount of $3,740 for reprinting bike trail brochures, requested by Monroe Main Street.
Monroe Main Street Director Barb Nelson said the brochure highlights Monroe as a starting and ending point for two days of biking on the trail, and includes Monroe special events.
She plans to use the brochure as inserts in the Chicago area; for mailings throughout the tri-state area; and in displays along the trail, in motels, hotels and bed and breakfasts.
The board also approved preliminary funding of $5,000 and $2,500 in matching funds for various advertising media requested from Green County Cheese Days.
The media includes radio, television, billboards, posters, brochures and ads in the Green County visitors guide, New Glarus guide and the Source.
The board approved funding of $12,600 for 5,640 30-second television spots in Charter Media's ad campaign.
The spots are to run in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas from May through September.
