An order for the former Argyle school building, portions of which have stood for more than a century, was finally met recently when crews began demolishing the building.
On the morning of May 21, the demolition was in its final stages. The structure was part of an ongoing dispute between the village and owner Lisa Klein.
It was ordered razed by Village Inspector Mike Fenley on Oct. 11, 2017 after he noted the building was “dangerous, unsafe, unsanitary and otherwise unfit for human habitation.”
It was supposed to be demolished by the end of that year, but stood in limbo until workers began demolishing it in the first week of May.
