Fog contributes to 5 accidents locally

MONROE - The Green County Sheriff's Department reported five traffic crashes Sunday due to foggy conditions in the county.

• Three people were injured in a one-vehicle accident around 12:30 p.m. in the N7700 block of Wisconsin 104. Deputies report a vehicle driven by Jamie L. Rindy, 30, Fitchburg, was traveling west on County C, failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a tree. Rindy and two passengers, Charlie B. Rindy, 16, and Owen J. Rindy, 3, sustained minor injuries but declined medical attention. The vehicle received extensive damage and was towed.

• One person was injured in a one-vehicle accident around 1:15 p.m. in the N1300 block of Wis. 69 near County B. Deputies report a vehicle driven by Deanna J. Cheeney, 41, swerved to avoid a semi and went into a ditch. The vehicle received minor damage. Cheeney sustained minor injuries but declined medical attention. The vehicle was towed. The semi was not located.

• No one was injured in a three-vehicle accident around 2 p.m. on Wis. 92 west of County X in Exeter township. Deputies report a a semi driven by Kevin M. Hageman, 39, Verona, was stopped at a traffic light. Behind the truck was a vehicle driven by Amanda J. Zuber, 26, Brooklyn. Zuber's vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Thomas E. York, 34, Belleville, and pushed into the back of the truck. Zuber's vehicle received extensive damage. York's vehicle received moderate damage.

• No one was injured in a one-vehicle accident around 5:15 p.m. in the N6000 block of Wis. 104 in Albany township. Deputies report a vehicle driven by Jeff L. Matson, 33, Edgerton, failed to stop at a stop sign, traveled across the road, hit a road sign and went into a field. The vehicle received minor damage. Matson was arrested for possession of a switchblade knife and a warrant issued by the Albany Police Department and was cited for driving after suspension and driving too fast for conditions.

• No one was injured in a one-vehicle accident around 7 a.m. in the N7300 block of Dougherty Creek Road in York township. Deputies report a vehicle driven by Spencer L. Slotten, 20, Belleville, left the road and went into a ditch, then went back onto the road and overturned. The vehicle received moderate damage and was towed.
