MONROE — A Florida man has been arrested for money laundering, forgery and theft in a case that includes a local village, according to a press release from Green County Sheriff Cody Kanable. Which village, however, was not specified by Kanable.
“I do not have the intention to release the name of the village, because technically they are a victim in the case and I’d like to protect them from that,” Kanable told the Times.
On January 29, 2025 the Green County Sheriff’s Office received contact from a local village who reported a $40,000.00 fraudulent check had been written from and cleared the Village bank account. The Village reported they had sustained a nearly $40,000.00 loss as the involved financial institutions only reimbursed the Village a small portion of those stolen funds.
This investigation remained active nearly a year with members of the Green County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau having sought, obtained, and served a number of search warrants to further the investigation. During the course of the investigation, Probable Cause was established to arrest Khristopher Charles Timmons, 41, of Yulee, Florida for the crimes of Theft, contrary to Wis. Stat. § 943.20, Uttering a Forgery, contrary to Wis. Stat. § 943.38(2), and Money Laundering, contrary to Wis. Stat. § 943.895(2)(a). Due to his location, a Criminal Complaint and Body Only Arrest Warrant were issued on December 11, 2025. With the assistance of the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, Timmons was taken into custody on Friday, December 12, 2025 to await extradition to the State of Wisconsin.
Following his transport to the State of Wisconsin, t 1:15 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025 a, Timmons appeared in Green County Circuit Court where he received a $10,000 cash bond with conditions that he may not leave the State of Wisconsin within permission of the court. Timmons was charged in Green County with Theft of Movable Property ($10,000—$100,000); Forgery — Uttering; and Money Laundering — Knowingly Conducts Unlawful Transactions (all as Party to a Crime). Per court records, the adjourned initial appearance for Timmons is set for 1:15 p.m. on January 14 in Green County Circuit Court.
The Green County Sheriff’s Office is leading this investigation which remains active. Timmons remains in custody at the Green County Jail.
