Flooding possible this week

MONROE - Warmer temperatures over the next few days could pose a flooding threat in the area.

Temperatures Thursday are expected to be in the low 40s, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Friday's temperatures are expected to be in the high 40s. There is an 80 percent chance of rain Friday with thunderstorms in the afternoon. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is expected throughout the day.

According to the NWS, melting snow along with additional rainfall could cause river levels to rise, causing flooding, especially in low-lying areas.

Warmer temperatures will cause heavy fog in some areas Thursday and Friday, which could be dangerous for travel. Authorities advise drivers to take extra time to get to their destinations.

Temperatures are expected to drop throughout the day Friday with lows in the mid-teens by Friday evening. Rain in the afternoon is expected to turn again to snow after 9 p.m.

Scattered flurries are predicted for Saturday, with high temperatures in the mid-teens.
