MONROE - A flood warning has been issued in Green County after more than 2 inches of rain fell throughout the day Tuesday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flood warning for the Sugar River at Brodhead until late Thursday night.
At 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, the river was at 5.3 feet. The flood stage for the river is 5 feet.
"The river will continue rising to near 5.9 feet by this afternoon." the NWS Web site said. The water is expected to fall below flood stage Thursday.
No roads in either Green or Lafayette counties had been closed because of water, sheriff's department in both counties reported this morning. There are rural roads very close to flooding in the Brodhead area.
No rain is expected in the area until Friday night. Up to a half an inch of rain is forecast for Saturday.
